The music, "Piano Concerto No.
2" by Dmitri Shostakovich, the story, Hans Christian Anderson's
"The Steadfast Tin Soldier." The story is based on three
major characters: a Tin Soldiers, a Ballerina, and a Jack-in-the-Box.
A one-legged toy soldier is rejected by his fellow soldiers and
discovers a ballerina dancing on one foot, but discovers that
she really has two legs. Thinking she too would reject him for
being different, finds that she has fell in love with him. Meanwhile,
an evil Jack-in-the-Box is in love with the Ballerina, but she
is not love with him. So to push them away from each other, the
Jack-in-the-Box washes the soldier out to sea and tries to win
the Balleria's love. This segment is a combination of Computer
Generated Images with hand-drawn animation.
