Hercules, the mighty son of Zeus and Hera, is taken from his Mount Olympus home and raised on Earth. Hades see's Hercules as an obstacle to his plans to take over Olympus. Hades sends out his sidekicks, Pain and Panic, to abduct Hercules and feed him a poison to make him mortal, but Hercules doesn't finish the last drop and still has his god-like strength. As Hercules grows up, he discovers his strength and sets up to be a real hero, with the help of hero-trainer, Philoctetes. Hercules beats Hades by discovering that becoming a true hero is not the size of your strength, but the strength of your heart.

"Hercules 2" - Sequel

Hercules 2: A movie sequel to the 1997 animated sequel is apparently on the way and the storyline has just been revealed: "Basically Hercules is now living in Athens with Megara and their daughter, Hebe. However when an old friend named Helen is captured by the evil Paris of Troy, Hercules joins the united Greek army as they head out to war. However this war will create revelations, including Hercules finding an old friend that went missing. There will be several new characters for the film, including a new villian named Paris and a new design for Philoctetes, who will return. There will also be some involvements wth the Trojan War. It's unclear if it is a theatrical release or a direct-to-video release".

began at the Disney-MGM Studios on June 27, 1997, saluting "the greatest hero of all time," also began at Disneyland on the same day.

a 3-D adventure game featured at DisneyQuest.

Animation began in early 1995, and a team of nearly 700 artists was involved with the project.
